Yul HR Kang (강형률)
Principal Investigator

Yul is an assistant professor at the Department of Bio and Brain Engineering at KAIST. He became interested in how the brain works while studying at Summer/Winter Schools for International Olympiads in Informatics. After receiving an MD at Seoul National University, and a PhD in Neuroscience at Columbia University supervised by Michael Shadlen, he worked as a postdoctoral associate at Computational and Biological Learning Lab with Máté Lengyel at Cambridge University where he also served as a junior research fellow at Wolfson College. He worked as a lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, before he moved to KAIST. Outside the lab, Yul enjoys swimming and drawing.

Donghyun Lee (이동현)
Masters Student

Donghyun Lee is a graduate student in the brain and cognitive engineering program at KAIST. He graduated from Ajou University Department of Software and Computer Engineering. He is interested in determinism and brain-inspired aritifical intelligence. He is currently focusing on making active sensing model for predicting gaze. Outside of the lab, Donghyun enjoys playing and designing games.

Jeongjae Park (박정재)
Masters Student

Jeongjae is a graduate student in Brain and cognitive engineering program. He studied electrical engineering at POSTECH for his BSc. He is studying navigation and problem solving in the human brain, and is currently working on how humans combine multi-step uncertainty. He is also interested in consciousness and hopes to understand it one day. Jeongjae enjoys watching plants and fungi by following their growth cycle.

Jisoo Yang (양지수)
Masters Student

Jisoo is a graduate student in the Department of Bio & Brain Engineering at KAIST. They are interested in psychiatry, especially mood disorders such as bipolar disorder. They are currently participating in a project on Sleep & Stress Prediction. Previously, they studied Bio & Brain Engineering and Computer Science at KAIST during their undergraduate years. Outside of the lab, they enjoy drawing illustrations or going for a run along the nearest river.

JaeHeon Lee (이재헌)
Undergraduate Student

JaeHeon Lee is an undergraduate student majoring in biology, AI, and electrical engineering at KAIST. He is interested in neural information processing and cognitive uncertainty, and is currently participating in projects deciphering how humans combine uncertainties in multi-step decision making. Outside of academic pursuits, JaeHeon enjoys a wide range of digital media, including movies, anime, and comics.

Kyungmi Noh (노경미)
Research Intern

Kyungmi Noh is a Research intern in the Department of Bio & Brain Engineering at KAIST. She studied Electrical Engineering in Sogang University and got master’s degree in Materials Science from POSTECH. She is interested in exploring the modeling of various psychological mechanisms and their impact on human decision-making. Also, her interest extends to applying this knowledge to more advanced artificial intelligence models, such as strong AI and super intelligent AI, to understand and enhance their capabilities. Her current work is on modeling the decision making process upon multiple tasks. Outside of the lab, Kyungmi enjoys reading, digging and djing musics.

Yeowon Kim (김여원)
Research Intern

Yeowon is an undergraduate intern, majoring biomedical engineering in Sungkyunkwan university. She is interested in understanding the neural processes involved in spatial navigation, employing AI models as tools. Her current project aims to examine how predictive objective can help in learning probabilistic representations in the brain. Outside the lab, she enjoys walking and traveling.
